Data Recovery Software - specially tailored for technicians

This software is optional - it fits perfectly to retrieve data from a defect file system or partition structure
of a single hdd or a raid system - usually after cloning a defect drive.

Most cases can be solved in just using the Atola tool, but in very special cases one definitely needs a
fine data recovery software - perfect if it also supports raid systems like this software.

In other words:
You dont have to buy this software to use an Atola tool - but its a perfect fit for the data retrieval.

It for multiple file systems: FAT16/32, NTFS, ReFS, ExFAT, HFS, HFS+, EXT2,3,4, XFS, UFS, BTRFS;

Partition Recovery

  • reads most of partition tables: MBR, GPT, APM, LDM, LVM, md-raid, Storage Spaces
  • search for partitions: FAT, ExFAT, NTFS, HFS+, EXT, XFS
  • specify area to scan

Disk viewer/editor

  • Reads and writes to disks directly
  • View any filesystem structure important in data recovery
  • Conveniently navigate throughout a filesystem.

The isk editor provides an unmediated insight into structure and condition of a filesystem or a RAID.

Filesystem objects: FAT16/32 boot sectors, FAT entries, and directories,
exFAT boot sector, FAT entries, and directories,
NTFS boot sector, MFT entries, and INDX blocks;
EXT superblocks, group descriptors, inodes, directories,
XFS superblocks, inodes, directory blocks and others.

Partition objects: Partition tables: MBR, GPT, APM
RAID headers: md-raid, LVM, LDM.

RAID analysis
deal with unknown RAIDs:

  • Determine RAID level quickly,
  • Weed out hotspares and unrelated drives,
  • Detect mirrors,
  • Literally see parity on disks in RAID5 and RAID6.

Simple RAID data analyzer
Useful to detect copyback hotspares which are otherwise easy to miss.

  • Ratio of zero sectors on a disk,
  • Average data entropy on a disk,
  • The degree of identity between the pairs of disks,
  • The percentage of even rows (parity) in the full disk set and in every exclusion combinations.
Entropy analyzer: While requiring certain skill to operate, entropy analyzer produces a lot of fancy pictures.
As if fancy alone is not enough, these pictures are extremely useful in detecting block
size and number of disks
in RAID5 and RAID6.

RAID Recovery
Supports all the common RAID levels - RAID0, RAID10, RAID5, RAID6
Requires only RAID level to be known,
Automatically discovers most common configuration errors.

Block size
Automatic detection of block size ranging from one sector (512 bytes) to one megabyte (1MB) which is
enough for most all RAID arrays. If the block size is known in advance or at least you know its range,
you can specify it, thereby reducing the recovery time and system load.

Recovery time
Automatic RAID recovery doesn’t require full scan of all the disks but completes when it collects enough
data to get a reliable solution. For user convenience, the software provides information on how stable
the current best solution is. Based on this information, you can decide to stop the scan before reaching
the automatic stop threshold.

Configurabel scan direction
Use forward, backward, or automatic scan depending on the situation. Knowing the story behind a particular
RAID, you can significantly reduce the recovery time using this function.

Only requires to know the RAID level
All you need is the RAID level. However, sometimes even that is difficult to provide - clients are often
wrong about their RAID type. If you suspect this is the case, use the RAID Analysis feature to determine
a correct RAID level.
